Mission to Angola
Here I am Lord Send Me
Sister Maria Ndahafa, MSC |
Sister Agnes Kakololo, MSC |
Arrived safely in Cuvelai-Angola
On the 15th March 2014, the Namibian Province celebrated the Mission sending of our Sr. Maria Ndahafa and Sr. Agnes Kakololo, the ceremony was attended by the MSC sisters and the faith full of God as well as the Lay-MSC in Mariental.
They left Namibia to Angola on the 3rd April 2014, Accompanied by sisters Susanna, Letitia and Veronika.
It was a blessed day, and had a very smooth cross over at the border post Oshikango. Upon arrival in Ondjiva we were welcomed by the Bishop of Ondjiva diocese and the OSB-Oshikuku.
The same day we proceeded on to the next mission station called Mupa, there the sister of Divine Saviour welcomed us, and everything was prepared for us.
Because of the long distance, and it was already late, we overnight at Mupa mission station.
4th April 20014 after lunch, we proceeded to Cuvelai at the village called Omukolongondjo. The people at the place were ready to welcome us. It was a very joyous encounter. This had been a period of prosperity.
On our arrival at the sister’s house, the representative of the group handed over the keys of the house to Sister Susanna. then Sister Susanna handed over the Keys of the house to Sisters Maria and Agnes.
The house was prepared, the kitchen filled with all the basic needs.
We were asked to sit comfortable and the parish priest welcomed us and expresses his gratitude to the MSC sisters for their generosity to share the personnel with the Angolan nation, also asked the sisters (us) to make ourselves comfortable and to feel at home, immediately each one felt at home. He assured us that the sisters are in good hands and together they will try to spread the love of God.
As it is a customs of the people, they are very hospitable and welcoming. Already the next morning the mother and her daughter Meme Julia Dumingas brought the food to the sisters for physical nourishment. This was a joyous moment for her to welcome the sisters and share with the sisters.
Holy Mass
Sunday 5th April 2014, was the welcoming day by the parishioner, His Excellency Bishop Pio Hipunyati the Bishop of the Ondjiva diocese was the main celebrant assisted by Father Nande Wilson together with brother Taukondjele. Holy Mass was celebrated under a very beautiful tree, because there is no church building.
In his homily, the bishop thank the Missionary sisters of the Most Sacred Heart of Jesus for their generosity, and encouraged the sisters to share faith with the people and make the Heart of Christ known in Cuvelai and the surrounding areas, and also to the people of God to be steadfast in faith and together with the sisters to trust in God and no turning back.
He continues ensuring the people that one of the good day they will have their own church, do not grow tired, soon they will have priests who will come and work together with the sisters. The sound of music was ringing lauds and all applauded with joy.
After Holy Mass
We talk to some of the parishioners and they expressed their happiness of having the sisters in their midst, thanking God for He heard their cry , now “we are praying that one day we will have the priests and a place of worship the Church building.”
It was a rainy day and the sky was filled with dark clouds, we needed to go back home to go and bless the house. The house was blessed and after the blessing, the Parishioner came to bid good bye to the visitors, with a lots of presents, many chickens and a Goat.
