Houston, TexasSister Gina Maria Iadanza, MSC ministers in the Archdiocese of Galveston-Houston, Texas as the Associate Director of the Secretariat for Clergy. In this ministry, she makes present the charism of the Missionary Sisters of the Most Sacred Heart as she collaborates with the Vicar for Clergy and Minister to Priests in promoting and supporting the life, ministry and development of their 473 priests through all the stages of priesthood. Her unique gifts and talents in administration, nursing, counseling, and facilitation are especially appreciated in areas of ongoing formation, staff development in parishes and consultation to the departments of the Chancery. She is committed to providing individual support and multiple opportunities for growth and development for priests who serve in our multi-cultural parishes and chaplaincies. Our archdiocesan Catholic communities today range from small, rural, parishes to varied inner city parishes or mega-parishes that serve 8 – 11,000 families.
Sister Gina has been in ministry to ministers for 17 years and never imagined that God’s call to her as a Missionary of the Most Sacred Heart with a mission of making God’s love present to everyone would include ministry to priests. She says “we are all part of our Church that continues to call us to conversion, to be faithful to the Gospel and to be instruments of hope and healing for one another.” This includes our priests, seminarians and all those who minister with them. She sees herself as making a difference in the structures and relationships that support a healthy, holy presbyterate. Sister Gina relates that one day a Pastor came to her and thanked her for her ministry saying, “I hope you realize that for every priest that you help, you are helping hundreds of people that he ministers to with greater spirituality, humanness and the faithful love of God alive in his heart. Thank you for your dedication and presence to us, your brothers!”
