Major Gifts Program
Father Linckens Society
Faith, Persistence and Compassion. These three words aptly describe the Missionary Sisters of the Most Sacred Heart of Jesus and their founder Fr. Hubert Linckens, MSC. It is Fr. Linckens who placed the Congregation of MSC Sisters at the service of the Church and the world and gave them a missionary dimension. Since their arrival in mission to the United States in 1908, our Sisters have faced incredible challenges. Their first challenge was to leave their families and their lives in Germany to come to Pennsylvania to teach students of Slovak descent who did not speak English; the Sisters themselves spoke only German. Without money or a home of their own, these MSC Sisters responded by praying and working. Eventually, their faith and persistence lead the Sisters to increase their numbers, to expand their presence in more schools, to establish a Motherhouse, and to open and operate major hospitals and nursing schools in the U.S. The Sisters’ compassion impelled them to branch out in mission to other countries as well, while they simultaneously continued responding to the needs of many at home through elder care, hospice, parish ministry and various social services.
The MSC Sisters have touched thousands of lives, one at a time. Today the sisters continue to do the same through education, Native American ministry, healthcare, ministry to people on the move, parish ministry, social services, elder care and pastoral care. Through a decrease in vocations and through troubling economic times, the MSC Sisters continue to respond in creative ways so that they may deliver their message of Christ’s compassionate love to people everywhere. With your help the MSC Sisters will continue their ministries for years to come. Your gift will enable the sisters to continue touching lives with the spirit of their congregation; with the faith, persistence and compassion which our world is so in need of today.
