Charitable IRA Rollover

Thanks to legislation enacted in December 2015, the charitable IRA rollover has been made permanent. Direct, tax-free gifts from your IRA to Missionary Sisters of the Most Sacred Heart of Jesus can:

  • be an easy and convenient way to make a gift from one of your major assets,
  • be excluded from your gross income: a tax-free rollover, and
  • count toward your annual required minimum distribution.

For your gifts to qualify under the law:

  • You must be 70-1/2 or older at the time of your gift.
  • The transfer must go directly from your IRA to Missionary Sisters of the Most Sacred Heart of Jesus
  • Your total IRA gift(s) cannot exceed $100,000 per year.
  • You may not receive anything in exchange for your gift.
  • Gifts for tax year 2017 must be made by December 31, 2017.

A gift in your will

Each year thousands of individuals leave a portion of their estates to charitable organization like Missionary Sisters of the Most Sacred Heart of Jesus. In addition to the personal satisfaction of establishing a legacy, gifts through your will may enable you to make a significant charitable contribution that was not possible during your lifetime. A number of types of bequests may be used to memorialize your love of MCS Sisters. The choice depends on your circumstances and your personal and financial objectives.

A specific bequest identifies particular assets or a specific dollar amount. A residual bequest is a gift of a percentage of your estate after taxes, debts, expenses and specific bequests being satisfied. You may also condition a gift on the occurrence of some special event, such as an intended beneficiary predeceasing you.

General Gift

Gifts of all amounts are welcome and support MSC Sisters in fulfilling its mission to be the Heart of Christ in the world—bringing compassion and hope to all so that the Sacred Heart of Jesus may be loved everywhere, now and forever. Make a donation online.

Tribute or Memorial Gifts

A memorial gift in memory of a deceased person or a tribute gift to honor someone on a special occasion is a wonderful way to celebrate the life and friendship of a loved one. Make a tribute online or Send a gift by mail.
